haven't posted for a while..had nothing much to show just been doing little bits..

but now we're having big paint problems

i thought i was buying 1k etch primer turns out its 2k now it looks like i'm gonna have to strip the lot and start again...

As some of you may know i've had a bit of a paint issue...the etch primer i brought turned out to be 2k..so the 1k undercoat started lifting and cracking

made a half hearted start on stripping the paint...Again

have to say i've seriously been thinking on giving up and putting her up for sale..i know it's "only the paint" and "easly fixed" but as many of you know it takes a lot of time and effort to get to the stage it was..and now it's all gotta come off..

I wouldn't, the Van is only going to go up in Value and if you say goodbye now there may not be another chance.

i know mate..just feeling a bit sick of it right now..thinking i might just lock the door leave it for a week or so and see how i feel then..

Jeez minbin we've all been there at some point in are projects. Heck, look at mine for instance. I've been doing the bloody thing for nearly 10 years now! I can think of umpteen times I've thought about throwing the towel in. But I've left it for a bit, read loads on here, seen pictures of other vans getting nearer completion and got back on it feeling fresher.

 

Your pretty much on the home stretch now and once the paints back on, it will start to come together rapidly.

 

And as Chris says "the Van is only going to go up in Value and if you say goodbye now there may not be another chance."

yesterday was just one of those days when everything went wrong and my nomal escape from everything(working on the van) turned into one of them..

might leave the stripping for a bit and make a start on repairing and re skinning the doors see how badly i can mess that up been dieing to have a play with my new skin zipper

back again took a bit of time away from the mini..but with threats to hunt me down and cut bits off that i kinda like where they are i thought i'd better come back and start again

to be honest i'm still struggling a bit to get motivated with the stripping and with early starts and long days at work not much has really changed..

need to get some smaller brushes to get right into the last little bits..but other than that oh and the side it's laying on the striping is nearly done ..be so glad to see the back of it..

one good bit of news i finally managed to get some wheels and centers off ebay well i was happy till one of my kids droped the box carrying round to the garage..no got a few dents and scratches to sort out

Wow long time since i,ve been on this thread, just looking through backwards and saw my comments i was shocked at how different it is! haha you,ve progressed aload on got to the solid shell stage, be proud of that mate, i'd be ahah

 

Hows the engine/ running gear coming along Chris ?

Cheers Cliff..though progress is on rewind right now lol

 

it's larry all the subs and arms/brake parts are painted ready to rebuild..just lacking the space to store things so they wont get rebuilt till at least the underside is done again..then i'll rebuild and put her back on some wheels again before i spray the rest..
