i think this looks lovely, but i would still think it was just as nice without the dummy hinges-if it hasnt got sliding windows seems a bit pointless.I couldn't tell that this was MPi at first... I guess it must have internal hinges though!
i love the mk1 look though and think retro fitted mk1 grilles and rear lights ,badges etc look very nice on the right car.
it makes me laugh when i think of all the mk1/2 minis my parents and my sister had over the years(we had four at one time)one of which was a 1960 with floor starter, and they were all worth peanuts at the time!!

In other words, one hell of a lot of work just to make the car look older than it is.there is a thread on here about converting to external hinges but you need to cut inner door skin to take reinforcment plates to door skin and some how fit mk1 inner A-panet to existing A-panel........
Years ago I looked at the full implications of turning a later shell into a Mk.2 shell. It was just so much work that it was not viable. Virtually every panel is different. We could have a list of the carry-over panels from Mk.2 to Mk.3 and onwards. I'll start with the roof panel, front outer wings, rear panel, rear valence, seat mounting cross-member and boot floor. I may be wrong about a couple of those, but someone will tell us.

Doorstep,roof drip rails,door itself,a-panel is completly different,a post stiffner,bottom dash,front of tunnel,toe board,bulkhead cross member,rear panel(light holes & window), rear seat base,nearside front floor pan,boot,wings,front panel,bonnet,inner roof frame work,b-post is smaller & whole door frame is smaller,inner wings.
& thats off the top of my head haha
your very right cooperman haha

Mk1 Door Hinges (Arc-Angel) - £229.99
"After nearly 18 months of development, they are finally here. These door hinges allow you to achieve the mk1 look on a later mini with interior door hinges. They are replicas of the original mk1 hinges, made using a special blend of casting resin, giving a tough and accurate replica hinge. A special pivot system allows the door to open without the hinge fouling, as the door is closed, the hinge returns to its original position giving the look of a mk1 hinge These hinges are individual in many ways. The first being that you can fit them to a later non exterior hinge car. Secondly, they are so easy to apply, Simply remove the self adhesive backing, and stick them on. Can be fitted in about 5 minutes. Thirdly, They have misalignment adjustment, allowing you to fit the hinges to any mini with up to 2mm of misalignment between the door and a panel. To find the misalignment measurement, place a ruler against the door and a panel, the difference between the two panels is the misalignment, and yes, most minis are different from side to side, as well as top to bottom. We manufacture the hinges and finish them to your paint code, meaning all you have to do is stick them on. simply email your paint code when ordering. There is currently a lead time of 6 to 8 weeks on this product."

These are the Japanese dummy external hinges below, I believe they are just in 2 separate parts and have very large gaps to maintain the opening clearance and so don't look that realistic when open or shut from close up:

true there are too many differences between shells if you want an exact copy and i can understand some people may have valid reasons to want such a precise copy but in all honesty i wouldn't have a good enough reason to want any more than mk1 looking front, functional mk1 look doors (with round corners, ext hinges and sliding windows etc), mk1 looking rear without replacing the rear window to correct size, mk1 interior etc etc
unless you are reshelling a mk1 that would be going through intense scrutiny would be quite ludacris imo which should be remembered when advising others... instead of saying its not worth doing because there are too many differences it should be advised and encouraged/discouraged according.
it is doable and lots have done this conversion to real ext hinges but as to the extent the OP goes to modify to get the extra touches is his own choice
