should we be discussing anti theft tips and secret switches on a public forum?

If they're professional enough to look on a forum for potential "problems" when taking your car, chances are they can take it without even starting the engine. a lot of them get taken away on low loaders, they just literally drag the car on :(

A friend of mine had a modified Honda prelude taken in this way, even the seized brakes didn't stop them :(

My thoughts were that if someone was going to steal it, they'd steal it properly, low loader etc.

It's worth putting a sticker or some visual deterent on also.

Reason we fitted the isolater was because brother in laws was stolen by some random joy rider.
It's a 1970, thief obviously wasn't familiar with early cars because first thing he did was rip off the steering cowling to find the ignition wires...the lack of key should have been a clue.
Then noticing the key in the center dash, He ripped that out..

A visual deterent may have saved the damage and detered the thief.

It all depends, the last car I loaded onto a low loader (last week) was on skates to get it into position where it needed to be, then took a good couple of minutes for the winch to pull it up!

There are different types of thieves, joy riders, people stealing to order, people stealing to break, or re-identify!

Not all minis are where they can be dragged onto a low loader, I'm sure some are hot wired and driven away

All I was saying is that if someone really wanted your car they would get it. Most of the time they make themselves look like "professional" car removers, (you know flashing lights, cones, hi vis, the whole shebang) so they can do it in the public eye and take as long as they want. And nobody thinks twice :(

But as a deterrent for the little scrot who thinks he'll have some fun with your pride and joy Isolators are great.

I have two isolation switches, a hidden one for the battery and an easy to see one for one for the ignition :)

easier to fit, but a pain in the long run. My mini is my only car, used most days and a battery mounted cutoff switch would get annoying. Sod going into the boot everytime I start and stop the car.
