Is there anyone down in essex that you would recommend to have a look at the block. My aim is to build an engine to last as i have done this to the rest of the car its only the engine letting it down and am dubious about cutting corners so to speak. How much material does a hone take off out of interest?

A hone would normally not be expected to take off any more than 0.002" however if you set it up to take more out then it will do just that, the more it has to remove the dearer the job, hence why they are bored to within range first.

Ashpoles or Ivor searle.
Both very reputable and we use them a lot!

Gosnays are one of the largest engine reconditioners, and have a good reputation among classic car owners. As it happens, they are in Essex (Romford).
