Vic

I would remove the sound deadening that goes over the tunnel, it will help with the location of the seat pads.

Also did you fit the press studs to the floor and carpet. It will help keep it in place, especially when you are getting in and out of the car.

Stuart

PS I didn't bother with sound deadening when I fitted my Somerford Carpets.

PPS The black fixing rings for the studs on the carpet should have the tangs towards the floor, not as I fitted them with the ring part to the floor.

Thank you Stuart,

I have the prestud kit supplied with the carpet set and will fit them once the carpet settles in.

The front moulded carpet fits great with the underfelt so fingers crossed it will be okay but the rear one will probably need the seat pads moved once the seats are back in but at the moment the frames are away at the powder coaters so I can not even try them in as a fit.

if you look on the Newton Commercial web site there are a few photographs of other peoples Mk 1 Minis that have had the carpets fitted and the seat pads are in the same place as mine so I think their jig might be out a bit but they will move no problem as they are only held in place with two black plastic rivets.

I had to trim quite a bit off the width of the rear carpet so if i take the underfelt away from the tunnel then it will be too wide again and I have it fitting great at the moment, Think I will wait for the seat frames and move the pads ( I hope )

Bit of a milestone today, Put a battery on the Woody and spun it over with the fuel pump disconnected to get the oil round. I then plugged the fuel pump back in and got the carb full of fuel, pressed the starter button and it started on first click ( no kidding either )  I nearly crapped myself and turned it off straight away. I checked for any oil leaks and started it up again.

I can not believe it went the way it did and to say I am chuffed is an understatement, Now sitting waiting patiently for the trims to arrive from Newton Commercial.

The Surf blue is the original colour which is an Austin colour but for some very strange reason my Morris left the factory in surf blue which has been verified by a heritage certificate so it should end up as a rare original 1963 surf blue Morris Mini Minor Traveller and I can not wait :D

Just on the paint colour... One reason could have been that the estates/commercial models were built in the "Austin" factory?

I got the interior on Thursday last week, I have the full trim kit in and it fit like a dream, some it a little tight to get in, the likes of the companion box liners and the front door cards but used some silicone spray and patients and they went in. The only struggle I had was the spare wheel board carpet in the rear,it seemed a bit too small and the vinyl edging was a stretch over the wooden board but got it in the end and ended up nice and neat. I got the front seat frames powder coated and now attempting to recover the seats.

So far well impressed with Newton Commercial and will post a few photographs later today so you can see the results.

You must have the shell back from the bodyshop ? and August is about right for mine as well as there is a Minimania show local to me then.

Well I have been trimming the last few days and I have to say it is one of the best parts of restoring cars, Somehow I find it relaxing and the hours/days just whizz by.

The trim kit was bought from Newton Commercial and I have to say that it is a pleasure to fit and the results far exceed my expectations and would recommend them to anyone, below are a few pictures of my progress with only the rear seat base to do and it will be done.

Wow wow wow looks amazing victor. What does the underside of the spare wheel board look like ? Is it painted wood or have you covered it with anything? Top job mate:-)

The spare wheel cover board is painted black on the underside with a few initials chalked onto it so I have left it as is with the addition of my signature and a date of 2015 :-)

Thank you for you kind comments.

Victor this is looking excellent.  I originally found your build updates travellers and countryman register.  I was excited to see the more in depth pictures and things you have done along the way.  I too have a 1963 Countryman that I am working on.  Getting close to having the rough body work done.  Close meaning more like 2-3 months more work of welding and grinding.  I usually get an hour here and an hour there.  Running a company, family time and what not makes it hard to get a headwind on my project.  I am very impressed with the accuracy, attention to detail and build quality that you have shown in your build.  I have gone from wanting my countryman just to go down the road to making it look a little more like yours.

You can only imagine how many large parcels I have had shipped stateside.  Considering it was another project that "had all the parts".  Most of which I will end up tossing anyways as they are so far gone.

Thank you eurosteves, the bodywork on the travellers is a bit more than others but it is well worth all the effort. Mine was quite complete but "well worn and rusty", I have tried to keep as much 1963 parts as possible even if they are a bit worn just to keep the history of the car. I have refitted all the original glass except for one rear sliding window which was missing and the screen which is 1972. I have kept in a box everything that I have removed from the car that is not good enough to be reused just to keep them if I ever sell the car on and the new owner can have the chance to have them with the car.

I think I am at the end of the big parcel stage "thank goodness" and good to hear of another woody being saved and I take my hat off to you carrying out the restoration when you are so busy at home and work.
