In the title :) I'm guessing hammerite should be fine? Anything else?

I used plastikote, it was £5 from B&Q for a can, and it really goes a long way, its very thin so it needs about 4-5 coats, but it is very glossy, doesn't seem to react to the heat from the block and best of all it wipes off easily with a rag covered in white spirit so any overspray can be sorted nice and easy.

I used hammerite after reading a thread on here. And they did the shade of but I wanted. Had no problems with at all. By comparison I have used halfords engine paint before and that was cack, terrible to use and didn't last.

I used hammerite 6 years ago and it's as good now as the day it was painted. As with all painting its down to the preparation.

Same as with painting a car, the better the preparation the better the finished article..

Using the above advice, you can paint an engine in anything you like from engine enamel, 2k, Celly, Hammerite, acrylic even poster paint if you see fit..

You do not need high temperature paint on an engine because it should not get anywhere near the temperature that will affect a painted surface, and if it does I'm afraid the paint on your engine is the least of your problems.
