no we are talking mods thats the point the dvla only deal with paper work and never come into contact with cars removing part of the inner wing that does nothing is not making the car a hybrid there conserne is people having a spaceframed car with a crazy engine and custom floor pan and a mini outer skin on top thats a hybrid car again this still comes down to your personal opinion and dislike of the mod theres no need to go on about it when you might not be right and the area of the inner wing left is a fair bit more that 50%

the DVLA are responsible for the licensing of vehicles, just check who you have to send your V5 to for changes

if you loose the identity of your mini it's no longer a mini, what you have made is a hybrid between a mini and the bit you added to it

it is not a full on kit car where you change the body but still use a donor body

Once again a thread where the op just wants opinions on a design of something has been turned into a political debate, this crap has got to stop as its genuinely driving people mental. And ruining other people's threads!
In future why not pm the op and mention the iva rather than spamming every thread?
I get why you bring it up, but it's got to the stage where it's just got annoying.

it seems to be the head in the sand crowd that brings this up more and diverts the thread into a miss information topic

maybe if they think it's better to not follow the rules and think others should do the same as them they could use the PM system

it not a crowd you upset with this it the entire forum or havent you noticed this. The areas on a minis body are unclear so dont preach about what you cant possible know thats why so many people are getting anoyed its like me telling gordon ramsey to just pop that in the microwave id get the same response

I think it is fair to raise the IVA issue whenever brace bars are discussed. Not everyone who reads a topic will have seen the others to be aware, and it could be very important for a grinder wielding Mini owner to know about it.

THAT DOESN'T MEAN WE HAVE TO REPLAY THE ARGUMENT EVERY TIME THOUGH.

Post a link to the sticky, or one of the many other topics, and if you really have to argue the toss do it on a specific IVA topic.

Structurally, you're looking for good triangulation that stops the subby from moving up & down at the front (at least as well as the inner/outer wing combo) and thereby putting fatigue stresses into the other mountings. It would also be sensible to think about any implications in a smash; it could be too solid, as well as too weak, if it transmits more of the impact forces back towards your legs. It's unlikely you can arrange a bigger box section than the original to dissipate the forces through to perform as well at both tasks simultaneously.

I agree with Ethel that it is important to raise the issue, but as said it does get very tiring hearing the same arguments over and over!
I don't want to sound like I'm moaning at a particular person or anything but I think people see where I was coming from with my first post.

I don't think we should be scaring people off modifications with the pressured talk of iva's etc because it will lead to less innovations. But I just think there could be a better way of warning people of the implications.

we need someone with the inner wings cut away to be brave enough to ring DVLA and say i think my car fails the 8 points system do you want a look

any takers ?

How about you jump off your soap box for once and grow a pair and volunteer yourself, as this is clearly a subject you just can't stop banging on about like a broken record.

Well it does take at least 2 parties for an argument and, if we agree it can be mentioned ONCE in any relevant topic, the onus is on everyone else to take it elsewhere if they feel the need to respond.

NO MORE IVA POSTS IN THIS TOPIC PLEASE ,OR IT WILL BE LOCKED

Back to brace bar design  (group hug)

I vote you have a go, im sure youll have an angle grinder, if not ive got one and a plasma cutter your more than welcome to borrow. Ill even deliver the said tools in person to you it required. seeing as you seem to be the only one with nothing better to think about than iva, i think you should find this out yourself, as your clearly so interested in this, if not, then shut the hell up and stop banging on about it.

this is my last note on the subject and my only point i ever make when replying to your arguments is that you yourself have not been told your info from the tescos beef mouth and it has ever only been your inturpritation of a few lines of text one of which you say states that 50% of a panel must remain (which it clearly does) so untill yourself has the clear info in written form from the relevent authorities you can not keep preaching possible wrong information it just is not right for you to do so. We have also discused on a previous thread that the reason that this is such a undecided subject is that there has never been any action taken by any of the vehicle and licencing authorities on the so grey area rules and as so nobody including you mr bungle really knows. so lets all do as ethal says either group hug or just walk away happy that in your inturpritation of the rules your car is fine and i will build my car just how i like along with my inturpritation of the rules
