Stub stack is overhaul slightly better across the rev range, longer ram pipes are in a specific range.Ram pipes wont normally fit inside a filter on the carb

Ram pipes are used to tune intake length for a specific rpm. Think of a wave moving up and down the pipe, if you get the high pressure at the valve end just after it opens you'll ram more air in, whereas if you get the trough there you get less air.
A stub stack is there to smooth the airflow into the carburettor by creating a more laminar flow, this should curve out and back on itself to at least 90 degrees from the carb intake.
Something like this;

ahh i thought they looked a tad long for a filter, what sort of price is an MED stub stack??
£25 from their website. You may find postage on top or it could be free, who knows!
