I've been kinda busy this weekend. Ripped the rear subby off only to find a little bit of rust thats beyond my realms of expertise. I think it would be easy for an experienced man but beyond me.
The car was in really nice nick but a big hole in the subby was a definate MOT fail and with the MOT looming i had to have a crack at the subframe..
Now the car is on axle stands at the back and the frames off. but i think im gonna have to sell it on to someone with a bit more time to finish the job..
So.. question 1..
With a mint interior and lots of nice bits to sell on would it be worth breaking the car?
its a 1990 mini city with about 70K on the clock. Reckon if it was on the road be it'd worth about 1500 to 2000 quid minimum. Its got little body rot but does have oversills which makes the mark 3 shell not worth a lot as it requires a full
rebuild really.
If i don't break it i Need to sell it as a project. but there in lies a problem.. Needs to be a rolling shell really to shift it..
Any ideas on how to shift it?
Could re-attach the rear subby as best possible then sell it on to complete. or put it onto a trolley somehow? still makes moving it a nightmare though!

It would take just as long taking it apart as it would putting a new subframe on. If it's standard parts there's not much point breaking it as standard parts aren't very desirable in the mini scene unless it's ltd edition. So put a new subframe on!

Re-attach the rear subframe as best you can and sell on ebay as a rolling project without MOT of fit/ make repair plates with captive nuts.........also saves another Mini from disappearing from the road for ever.
Repair Plates RH/LH:

This is the horizontal panel under the rear seat area that has the location points and castellated nuts for the front of the rear subframe fixings which often rusts.

I've seen the pictures of you car and its really not that bad, the rust could easily be tackled by novice welder. Its not worth scrapping or selling the car over anyway.
