Very pleased to read that all occupants are O.K. I felt a bit sick when I first clicked and saw those pics. As said, metal can be replaced.
Recovering from an unexpected rear end fish tail in a mini is damn near impossible. When I was your age I had a similar accident in a Mini, however it was my fault.
I lost the back end on a bend due to inappropriate speed. I hit a dry stone wall and rolled the car. The damage was pretty similar except I also squashed the roof. Had I been in a standard seat, rather than sitting further back in a low bucket and a dropped column, I'm sure I would have sustained heavy injuries to my right leg.
You are so lucky to just be bruised.

nah my damage to the barriers I checked before being carted of in the ambulance

Danny

That seems quite unlikely looking at the state of the car.

As Carlos W mentioned, I'd be careful not telling your insurance about it as you might get a large bill for damage to the public highway.

Also, depending what category of write off it gets would determine if you should be salvaging parts from it too, it does look quite bad.

Firstly, glad your ok. I was looking for myredmini at bingley, wondered why i hadnt bumped into him.

About the barrier, a friend of mine crashed into one with a similar fault on his car, at the scene everyone said the barrier would be ok etc. Approx 6 weeks later he got a letter for the damage. he forwarded it to his insurance who then paid out. There wasnt noticeable damage to the barrier, but they said they have to replace it or something.

These are the kind of pics I try and hide from my girlfriend! EEK!

Though the car seemed to hold up reasonably well. And what a relief that everyone is ok. I can imagine you have sore knee, makes me a bit queazy even thinking about it.

Is there a reason that the front tyre is mounted inside out?

Part of the bill for the barrier, was to clean the road of debris also.

it won't cost you anything that's the idea of insurance

when you take out insurance next year you will get ask if you have been involved in any accidents in the last year and you will have to say yes if you have claimed or not

Road barriers are designed to take one impact, beware you dont get a bill for the ambulance too

This is also a distinct possibility

No doubt the wombles had to come along and sweep the road etc.

There may be costs other than the car

If you have to claim on your insurance your girlfriend may need or want to claim against you!

I hit a crash barrier on the M25 a few years ago & wrote my focus off. The same as you was spinning, hit head on first then side & rear, no injuries & no damage to the barrier where i hit it but it was damaged about 6ft away with cones against it & a tag cable tied it with some numbers on ( gueesing some sort of repair reference) we were waiting for the police & recovery two other cars spun in front of us but managed to carry on, a third spun but went the other way & was hit by other cars.
When the insurance went through the highways charged for damage to the barrier, i told them the damage was already there before i hit it further along but at the time didnt take photos or a note of the label. they said it was easier for them to just pay it ( think it was something like £2000) they also said the car that had hit it first would probably already have paid it !

I also checked the barriers they are big hefty things a must say there I struggled to find the exact point of impact, there was no damage what so ever. Text me when you get there Dan.
