Again, glad to see that you are all ok, such a precious cargo to be carrying.

Shame about the mini, but remember its only tin and rubber ;-)

A smashed up Mini is a small price to pay for you all being safe. Shows they are tough little things Minis.
Glad to hear everyone is OK :-)

Glad that you and your misses are both OK.

I met with Chewy at Bingley and he mentioned that one of his mates had an accident on the way, I didn't know it was someone on the forum.

As everyone has said Danny, glad you, the missus and the baby are all okay. The Mini is just a bit of replaceable metal, your family isn't. Miracle the barriers kept you from that 100 ft drop as you say. Hope you and the missus get well soon pal :-)

Sounds to me like you say, the wheel bearing must of failed.

Edit: and good to hear help was on hand from myredmini, hope you're okay too!

Regards
Max

Hi again Danny, you don't happen to have all disc brakes do you? It's just I was one the phone to a Mini place nearby because I'm upgrading my Mini to be a bit safer and they said having all round disc brakes has a chance to lockup. Glad to see you're doing well.

Disc brakes are no better on the rear than drums, aslong as drums are maintained. They do the conversion for ultimate lightness, not really braking power. If you install them with too much pressure to the rear you will get the rears locking up before the fronts, causing all sorts of nasty things to happen.

Glad you are all OK, that is one hell of a hit! Any ideas what actually went wrong? May be an idea investigating it just so both yourself and everyone else knows how to avoid this in the future.

Best wishes to all 3 of you
Dan
