As the title says, I am fitting a new eand roller bearing. The one that goes into the transfer case, however I need to remove the old outer race from the transfer housing.
How do I remove the black snap ring, holding the outer race in the transfer case? I am unsure if there is a "correct Tool" for the job.

Also Is it a one use ring?
Thanks

Can't remember how I got my lock ring out, if indeed I did, but getting the outer race proved nearly impossible so I ended up taking it to a local machine shop who had it out and a new one in in a few minutes. Cost me nothing as they were doing some other work for me but can't see them charging much at all. It saves the risk of any damage to the case or place the outer race sits in.

Sorry can't be much more help,

Graham

Also, do you need a puller for removing the old bearing. I have removed the circlip but the bearing wont budge!
