Portuguese and Aussie Mokes are about half that for a good one.

Because they're so rare I think people really can offer high prices.
from what I've seen you're looking at about 7K for a good ausie moke and about 11/12k for a british moke.
If you bought an engine and complete subframes, you would probably be looking at a couple of grand. does another 10k on top of that justify the price tag for what's essentially a chassis, a v5 and a couple of seats?

Fixer uppers are now going for £7k +
Rarity value is important nowadays and you pay for something rare - it's how classic cars work.
If there were a million Works Rally Mk1 Cooper S about then they would be worth £25k upwards, would they?

Don't get me wrong, I completely agree!
For me however, I think I would prefer to fabricate a moke-style mini myself. Would work out a damn site cheaper too
