Engine seems to be smooth but my gearbox is a little stiff, 2nd can be a pain from cold, and reverse is a pain, I'm checking out the linkage for wear etc but there is defiantly a transmission noise resonating from some where,,,,,Saying that ive been using it every day and it hasn't failed me yet "touch wood"!

Yeh there is loads of room in the boot, my box is going to make the most of the spare wheel well, I will be putting rear seats back in, Ive just been without a car for 5 months so I have so many jobs to do, so there is no point messing up that lovely 80's cream + brown interior!

I went in a car trimmers / upholsterers at the weekend and managed to match the brown chocolate vinyl thats on the dash etc he had loads of it so if you need anything re-trimmed drop me a line,

A set of pressed plates would finish it off nicely! Love those retro rims, looks stock. I had a bump in nearly the exact same place on my passenger arch, weird!

Been driving this car almost every day now for past 4 months and its been great, feel really attached to it now. It hasn't let me down yet! but some millage and some shoddy road surfaces have battered the once set up car I owned 4 months ago,

New issues :

  •                      possible dent to front drivers side alloy (inner edge),
  •                      tracking slightly out
  •                      My rear shocks feel blown! even with the springs its very bouncy dampers need replacing
  •                      Started to drink more fuel + felt rich low down in the rev range
  •                      Boot struts non operational (broom handle is current cure)

To be fair I should have serviced it better before I started doing lots of motorway miles but now I feel guilty and have the time to sort some of issues out, I like to do as much of my own mechanic's so its just getting round to it, but I'm fed up of it bouncing around now!

Parts recently arrived:
K&N Direct replacement Cleanable foam version

Castrol Oil

3 oil filters

HT leads Bosch

Plugs (Purchased Denso twin tips? normally go for NGK)

Front brake pads

Need to order:

Rear boot struts (polished/chrome)

Rotor Arm

Dizzy cap  (finding these two alternator parts hard to find now, almost most of these come from oversea's it seem's from suppliers,)

Set of Mk2 golf front coilovers, Possibly rear replacement standard dampers as Iv'e found Some KYB ones at £50 for the pair

Recent work:

  • Upgraded 0 gauge ground zero power supply battery/alternator earth, terminals, In line fuse + cable fitted under carpet for amplifier
  • New speaker pods on dash + tweeters on pillars, front stage almost done Sounds great! door's + boot to follow
  • Carb cleaned
  • Air filter fitted / supply hose made more direct

Worklist for the next few days:

  • Engine flush Oil change after motorway tear
  • Fit rest of service parts mentioned above
  • Rebuild brakes (I think either sticky pad or caliper carriers not greased + fit new pads)
  • Door speaker builds (all ice work undertaken by my house mate Henry)
  • Weld up door lock hole Passenger side (car broken into previously) going for solenoids
  • Paint boot area with rustoleioum before install    84b84eea-f17d-43f4-9501-45179612a1a2_zps

Carz2 are great. I bought some civic EG panels from them and they're spot it. Great price too.

Loving the mazda!
