500 is about right for an A panel. id expect it to be done well, and properly though. looking at the other areas on that car it will need going over, so skys the limit depending on how much rust there is :P

It should be done to a good standard, the guy did his apprenticeship with british leyland and has restored 3 minis himself.

It snowed buckets last night so I can't take her to the nearest mini specialist for them to have a gander.

May seem expensive but he is also covering himself as he will know that it's not just the A panel that needs doing once he startes to take it off.

Have you ever thought of giving it ago and get them to paint it.

Most body shops start at around £200 a panel to paint.

I've considered it but I don't have any experience with welding or anything like that, so I wouldn't attempt. :')

I'm in much deeper than you! I think I need to replace my heelboard and get rid of dodgy oversills etc etc on my 1977 estate.
I'm gonna learn to weld ASAP and get stuck in... Go for it!!! You don't need to touch the mini until you're confident in yr welding... I'm not going to! Once you know how to weld you know you can do all the work needed on your mini...

Good luck!
