Your putting a 3 clock in? It was only 2 originally I though you were going back to original.

Oh right, We'll try to swap them so then the speedo reads the correct mileage, Hoefully it's not too difficult.
just take it easy on the circuit board...
We will

all I say is, you might get away with leaving him in, test it first if the needle stays steady when driving all is good, but high mileage, and might have been in and out it might be worn a bit.

So I got the hose out again today because it stopped raining for once, the only time we actually needed it .
First leak I found was the rear side window so got some sealent in between the rubber so hopefully that has stopped that. I'll get new rubbers for them. Then I found a tiny bit in the corner of the rear parcel shelf, lifted the carpet thing and it was full of water, the rear window rubber had a big gap in the middle so also filled that with sealent.
So took out the rear seats as they were wet/damp.
Then went to the doors water pouring in around the check strap rubber down the door rubber and inside, So i've pulled the door rubber back do the check strap rubber sits flush and door rubber sits on that.
Then there was a large leak coming in from where the LHD clutch and brakes cylinders go, Had a look, no leaks coming down from my rubber gasket. But we found this in the corner of the bulkhead there was a hole (where the brown wire is going.
And comes out the the hole inside. So we sealed that hole up.
Also to get to the corner of the bulkhead we removed the wiper motor which we found it full of water, Regreased it and made a cover for it.

What do you really need a rev counter for? Looking good on all the leak fixing I can't remember it ever really leaking from anywhere.

Don't know really, it may come in useful .
Dad stripped the 3 clock down taken the circut off with no damage and repaired the connections where the plug goes ( I'll get some pictures of that soon. anyway took out the 2 clocks and went to fit them, wouldn't fit so we're not going to fit them now , luckily the plug is the same so fitted them to test them and everything worked so will be able to sell them on...
We fitted new leads and a dizzy cap last week, went out and it stalled once or twice, got home and reset the revs as we thought they were a bit low, so went out again and drove to work all week and all was fine, then went out yesterday and it kept stalling again and nearly didn't start, so this morning we had a look at the leads, turned out they were a bit loose on the dizzy and coil. Tightened them up again and all is running well now.
We took the heated manifold pipe off as people said it was pretty much useless.
I fitted the dash liner thing from that we got aswell as the radio housing and radio, I didn't expect it to work so that saved getting a radio for it, it's dated 1998 . Also fastened down the 12v socket.
and the speakers fitted.
I Think (again) that I've found some more leaks, one was coming through the door and down the doorcard, so took that off and taped up the door. and another it where the doorstep and a-post meets, theres a small hole which lets the water in, so will seal that up tomorrow.
and I remade the wiper motor cover thing. I don't think there is any water getting in there now.
Just used the heat gun to shrink the bottle around the cover and block of wood, doesn't look that pretty but it doesn't let the water in.

This weekend Dad and I have been getting Lulu ready for its MOT, First there was a hole in the sill so I cut that out, made a new peice and welded it in, then ground it down.
Dad then changed the earth strap on the engine, it wasn't in very good nick so got a new one, while he was doing that he noticed that the engine steady rubber was nackered, I was thinking it was as the engine moved a mile while revving it. Unfortuantly I forgot to order new rubbers for it just incase they were nackered. So luckily I still had the rubbers off my mini, took them off as they weren't too bad and fitted them. the engine doesn't move very much now
old rubbers.
Today we replaced the steering rack boots, they were perished on the small ends and had split.
And fitted my new battery as the other one was pretty old and slowly dying. We fiited a better negative earth clamp so we didn't need to put a screw into it.
Theres probably a couple of things I've missed and theres a few things to do to it, like fit the new door rubbers etc and fit the other heater tap that I got and modified.
Any comment welcome
Alex.
