I didn't realise it was the wrong matrix but I had that in for quite a while and the heater always worked perfectly and didn't leak anymore.

It worked fine just could do with more hot air on the screen
I've had a bit more trouble with it this week, the headlamp blew so we replaced that with another sealed beam unit yesterday which was an easy job, then tonight when I put it in the garage Steam was coming out from the bonnet. I swap the heater tap over with a new one a while back as I heard that the new ones you can get fail fairly soon after fitting so I can keep my genuine one for my project. So opened the bonnet to find the tap had broken . I'll stick my genuine one on for a minute untill I get a new one. I also need to find the leak, i think its coming in while it's standing too...

They are bloody terrible cars , I found where a couple of the leaks are coming from, in through the door check strap. We've put rubber over them for the minute until the proper ones are bought and arrive. And I also fitted my heater tap.

Good good. I really want a 60's Cooper S project to do up over a few years and to learn on.

I did a bit more today. I fitted the rubber things for the door check strap, I'm not sure if they are on the right sides though as the people i bought them off put them in the same bag , I I fitted them and closed the door with out the door rubber on which was all fine then i put the rubber back on and it gets in the way.
is this the right way around the thicker part nearer the outside?
Dad fitted this light reminder, If I leave the lights on it'll beep and light up when i open the door, very handy as I'm likely to do this
and also fitted some smaller hose on the radiator overflow so I don't have the massive black pie over the engine bay.
I got the hairdryer out today to dry the floors to, The drivers side was alot dryer than the passengers. I'll have to go out in the rain and see if it comes in again.
Has anybody else had a problem with the door rubber? if so how did you go about fixing it?
Cheers

well done again, onwards and upwards,...... re rubber check strap, I never bothered because of adding stress to the hinge mountings on the flitch, if anything I would use the thinner black foam ones.....

Cheers, I've left them on and fitted a large grommet in the square hole with a slot in it for the check strap to pass through.
I found Someone breaking a mini, so went and had a look, he had pretty much everything on it. We rang him up before and gave us a price for a 3 clock speedo set up, the connections where the plug fits was a bit mangled but for £10 you can't go wrong
There was also this gear knob so I fitted that, it's like the original one and much better than the one in it before.
We also picked up a pair of halogen headlights, a radio and holder, hook type wiper arms, air vents, switch panel, seat belts and a few other bits for a bargin price
Also on saturday I found someone else selling a set of hook type wiper arms for £10 +£4 postage, which is a good price since there is a set on ebay for £31 at the minute, So I got 2 sets of hook arms for under £20
I thought I sorted out the leak in the car, Turns out I didn't, it was raining all day and the passenger floor was fall of water again, I only dryed it out properly on saturday

Yep, It's got 70odd thousand on it, I think you can split the rev counter and circut board and put it on the one thats in it now. speedo cable socket? yep got all the brackets and that.

70000miles could be a bit worn, the speedo cable socket......but if you change it over ..no bother, but I would try it first before going through the hassle an trying to get the circuit board of

Oh right, We'll try to swap them so then the speedo reads the correct mileage, Hoefully it's not too difficult.
