Bit of an update..
Nice I'm planning a similar engine for mine and have been collecting parts. I managed to find a vortz twin SU manifold by fluke and the usual 12G295.
Have you seen the hypatec pistons Calver ST is selling, there supposed to be very good and available up to +0.100 for 998cc making for a squarer engine and somewhere approaching 1100cc 1079 or something. I wonder if the standard head gasket would be ok at that size as it notes on the site it does overhang the bores slightly at over +0.060
Check out this guys site if you haven't seen it, these some interesting stuff on there, a lot relating to small bore tuning as he seems a fan of the 998.

I have heard of people using +.120!! That would be interesting I guess you could use a 1275 head gasket And as for my engine plans they might be changing a little bit, I have a very nice 1030(simliar spec to what I had planned) sat on my engine bench which was destined for my clubman, but I'm currently trying to decide whether or not to use it in this instead. As I think the clubman is getting something a little bit faster...
Spec is -
- 1030cc A-plus block, pocketed for 37mm inlet valves
- 276 cam
- Belt drive
- MED ultralite flywheel setup
- Knife edge, wedged and balanced crank
- Lightened and Balanced Rods
- Stage 3/4 1275 head 36/31
Anyway some progress on the rest of the car..
I've fitted the loom, everything from the fuse box back have been re-wrapped and I'm waiting to get the engine in before I re-do the engine part as it has been hacked about a bit! Only problem is the PVC tape I'm using is black, the original was grey, but hey-ho minor details
Some of the dash is fitted, using a slightly different clock set up to standard, going to use a vacuum gauge when I find one! Needs a bit of a clean!
