Howley weren't too far away from me when I lived in Derbyshire. There used to be a mini spares shop in Stockport in the 80s called the 1275GT Centre. When my mates and I passed our driving tests, we all had minis for our first cars. There were 3 1275GTs, a Mini HL and an 850 and we regularly visited the 1275GT Centre to spend our hard earned.
Howley too were regular visitors, as the 1275GT Centre used to sell some of Howleys products, including their gorgeous rocker covers, (which I could never afford), and on many occasions Howley would turn up in one of their tuned road minis which seemed to attract every local mini owner and their car. It was, at times, like a small mini show, quite often there were 12 or 15 minis all parked in a row at the side of the road.
Happy days
