Yes I have the Lotus and 1 Mini. Which is not a lot for me.

The wife always had a Mini up until 5 years ago and I had at least one. The garage is a big double but its packed with Mini panels at the moment. If I want more Minis then I need a bigger garage.

I bought it 2010 so not a quick build. I get about 1 to 2 hours a week on it between work, kids and life.

Its nice to get new metal on it and glad a few people are enjoying the pics. ;D

IMG00113-20130802-2040_zps478852db.jpgTime for a change of angle.

I need to start on the boot floor and tidy a few of the sill/floor welds so flipped it on its side. It makes a lot more room in the garage and means I can get started on the passenger side floor pan. The previous owner welded (badly) in a repair panel but it did not fit very well so I will use it to make patches and weld in a new panel.

Not finding any time to get in the garage and weld at the moment due to having to fix my house.

So I bought a few goodies to refurb on the kitchen table.

Twin HS2 for reburb and a MPI throttle pedal.

I like the MPI shiny parts; I may get a chrome gearlever if a reasonably priced one comes along.

Old panel badly welded in by PO removed and replaced. I have run a weld around the underside and could leave it like that but will run another weld around the inside to be doubly sure this is staying put. LOL

At least now the grooves line up properly not like the PO attempts.

I really should have removed that gearlever gaiter before I started welding.   Lots of flames and nasty smoke!

Oh my! Better a bit of burning than a bit of Boom Boom!! A friend was cutting one day and forgot to check this area and blew right through a paint can with the torch. It was hilarious after as he was covered in paint but when it happened the bang that occurred and the pooping of pants wasn't.
Nice job on the welding! I have to do the same repair on mine. Did u find it fairly easy to do it flipped on its side? Did you overlap that piece a bit or no?

Easy to flip as the subframes are off. I supported one corner with a strap attached to roof.

I was worried about overlapping the panels as did not want water to run along the overlap. Saying that I did overlap by about 1mm to make the weld thicker. By doing this small overlap when I weld it the overlap disappears into the pool of weld.
