Yeah I have them but wanted to protect the metal as I am going to do the A post next. I will clean off the area when the scuttle goes on.
The scuttle is the easy part as I will use my spot welder on that.

The A post is going to be tricky as I want the door gap to be spot on.

The inner wing came out ok though. I spent a long time on it but you cannot see the repair and the flitch panel is now welded to the inner wing properly now.

All progress is good.

Once you've got the A-post sorted you can pretty much build the door out, Using filler rods, theres a guide on here somewhere. I will have to do that with mine.

I cleaned up the passenger door-step and had a poke around the inner sill but it is worse than it looked so I now need to chop them out.
So tonight I cleared out all the mini parts and removed the rear subframe. The plan over the next few days is to remove the front subframe, weld in some bracing and flip the shell on its roof.

I only had 1 hour between putting the kids to bed and 'The Big Bang Theory' so not bad.

Well its snowing so the garage is not the warmest place at the moment. So I got the heat gun out and took off the bitumen from the floors. I tried chipping it off first without the heat but it was taking too long and I was cold. A little heat and it melts like cheese and is easy to scrape off.

The floor is better than I thought: all it needs is the old rubbish repairs cutting out and replacing. All repairs are the inner sills and upto the first line in the floor. So I will cut up the panels I have and repair the original floors. I could replace the floors but I think it will be easier to repair what is there.

The weld picture is what the previous owner did that's why its coming out. LOL

Cheers. I never give up on a car. My wife's first Mini had 3 engines in her ownership. I will get there in the end.

Good work so far! I know what you mean about it being too cold in the garage, I'm becoming the master of putting things off at the moment but getting the bitumen off the floor should be my first job too. Just to encourage/dishearten me how long did it take you?

Look's like a good project, Although you've already done it  , I found that if you give the bitumen a few taps with a hammer and chisel it'd come off in big chunks.

Chipping it off was not easy and wasted about 30 mins as mine was well stuck. With the heat gun I did 3/4 of the floor within 1.5 hours. You can do it quicker if you keep the heat on; once the metal floor gets hot the bitumen softens. So you just need to keep the heat on. I had to keep stopping for postman, neighbours popping in and toilet breaks.

I am not sure what to do next? I really want to weld in the floor and sill repairs but am a bit worried about the lack of A post. Because there is no A post I have nothing to weld bracing to. I think I need to weld in the A post and door step first and put a couple of tacks onto the old inner sill and then brace and flip onto its roof and do the floor and sill repairs. It means I will have to weld and then cut off weld from the new door step but I think its the only way to do it.
