i've been watching from the start and it's nice to see something a bit different and it's refreshing to see someone having a go rather than sprouting doom and gloom you can't modify anything any more

got body lowered more or less where its going to sit, ive cut around the windscreen so i could pull the body out a bit, about 2" each side, i'm going to do the same on the back but not done it yet.

That fits reasonably well!

You plan to get it to all fit behind the standard front panel?

Looking very nice mate. Are you taking the front end of the mx5 off back to the rad and fitting it under standard bonnet and front panel?

Cut it in half across the roof skin and weld a strip to to make up the width.

There's a guy that races in the NZGT class over here in New Zealand that has a front wheel drive rotary turbo powered mini. They've cut around the front and rear screens and thru the middle of the shell and added 100mm of steel into it to widen the body. Looks pretty good. Sorry don't have a photobucket account but if you do a google image serch for "ethan coleman mini racecar" you should find some pictures.
