So as the title says i'm starting a new project.
a few years ago i said that i'd love to build a mini estate, but it would be either a fwd vw 1.8 20v turbo, or a mazda mx5 powered rwd estate.
The thing that has put me off in the past is the price of even a rotten mini estate! most being about a grand for a complete but rotten car.
But when a friend of my brothers put some pictures on facebook of some bits he was selling, things started to fall into place.
They had bought the clubman estate years ago with the intention of restoring it and putting a bigger motor in, but they just didn't get round to doing it. Time to sell up!!

I have bought it for the same money they had paid for it, £300!!!! sure it's not a complete car but it's got all i need to get started.

so thats the mini, now i need a mazda mx5 to use for the bits i need. i could have got all the parts i needed as i needed them, but it would be cheaper to buy a full car, so thats what ive done.

£700 with t&t!!

my plan is to use the whole floor pan from the mazda and graft it onto the mini, yes its longer and wider the a mini but not by much.

how hard can it be!!!!

Interesting concept but anything can be done if you have the time and skills. Should be an interesting build.

Wow. This project sounds amazing! I have an mx5 mk1 (also in red) too! I'm not cutting her up though.. She's immaculate... The engine in these cars is awesome. The gearbox is how a gearbox should be! Stiff but smooth with a short throw and precise!

Will be a very interesting build. I'm definetly going to follow this!

Keep up the great work.
Joe

Here's mine. Lol (she's called Christine After the car in Stephen Kings 'Christine' as she did try to kill me once and ended up in a ditch lol)

When I was reading the start of the thread I thought you were 'just' going to bolt it up then make the floor pan to suit, not turn it into a mxini! I will be watching with amazement, and admiration!

JDM clubman, love it!!!
i do need to come up with a name for it though,
i found out that they had a limited edition in the states, the call the mx5 a miata, and the limited edition was called a miata clubman!!!

hoping to get the clubman into my garage this week, but i have had the mx5 in the garage today, so see if it fitted and to take some measurements, it does fit in my garage so thats ok.
