It's a great kit, with this fitted to my 998 i get 50.9bhp 66ftlb torque with a stage 1 kit on a totally standard high mileage engine. It really is a good piece of kit.

I am really tempted with this spi throttle body kit from sc but can anyone tel me is it loud?

I looked at a pic and the filter is right facing the bulkhead! And it's 1 of those foam dome ones.

I had a k&n cone which I took off cause the noise wudve deafened u! I stuck to the k&n box element which was so much more quieter!

Can anyone shed any light here? I don't want massive noise!

Ok my bad, jus reread the thread and Chris has said it's loud at full throttle. How loud?

would u know if its as loud as the k&n cone?

Plus did the bulkhead soundproofing fix the noise prob?

The whole noise aspect is real clincher for me.

Noise is probably going to be the same or worse. Very expensive but a very good system. Get the best out of your engine with one of those

I wonder if the old air filter and casing would fit over the new throttle body? And still fit under the hood?

So many questions. So many dilemmas !!

After months of waiting I have my car back from my local mechanic. He was getting lots of wee jobs done including weldintg in the boot and respraying the back end etc due to rust and failing MOT.

So Happy to drive her home. Its ice dry and half warm day so now hes all snug in my garage but by Joe, he needs good wash!! Dust galore. Will wash him this afternoon to make him al pretty lol

Sorry not the best of pics. Thats her washed, dried and quick detailed.

Will now be buying the SC Spi throttle body kit on Monday.

What I didnt know was that on the Spi engine, you also need to buy a Mpi fuel pump aswell to make this kit run correctly. It needs 3 psi (I believe this is the correct term, please correct me if am wrong) of pressure whereas now its getting 1.5 with the current fuel pump.

And this fuel pump needs to be bought seperatly so thats another £100. The joys lol.

So the car will be going in on 18th January! So Excited!!

Hi , you will love the kit. However if the noise is too much then you can buy the tubro inlet which you can then route to the front of the car which will make it much more quiet. It's not as loud as a carb until full throttle but putting dynamatt on the bulk head makes it very easy to live with.

Is this dynamatt on the inside of the bulkhead. Am putting on what i think is dynamat (black tar like sheet) and also the minispares bulkhead soundproofing. def want to soundproof interior bulk head also! want to cut down on noise

U dont know how easy it is to take away the dash so I can soundproof?

Hi why don't you use the Ecu from the Specialist components kit??? I have it on my car and it's very easy to use and very good. The throttle body setup is awesome and they do a wiring loom that fits easy and perfectly but make sure you have insulation on the bulkhead as it gets loud at Full throttle.

It's a really good kit I bought for the wifes mini and makes fuelling changes so easy. We got improved torque, more power and more mpg. The 998 gets 45-52mpg average. The fuel tank just lasts for ever!!! Next up is a supercharger.

Chris.

Sorry to thread hijack, but with this kit do you have to have the fuel filter that close to the inlet on the SC kit?

I've got an MPI and the filter is near to the fuel tank.

No mate, I just put it there as I'm 6'5 and wanted it in an easy to access place. My wifes car is a 1988 so we retro fitted a mpi fuel tank and added another fuel line. I didn't want to have to roll about on the floor or in the boot at the service times. :D
