The Current BHP is 54bhp & 70lbs torque. (had on rolling road)


The plan is a 1380 fast road engine: Work being carried out in mid January time.
The 1st thing I bought engine wise was a stage 1 kit with the fletcher dtm central exhaust. (I know, I know, bad exhaust for performance). Car looked great from the back end but actually was slower top end!

After stage 1 kit (fletcher exhaust):- 56BHP (+2) & 75lbs (+5) torque
To be honest I was expecting about 5 bhp extra but I believe the exhaust is at fault here. The car struggles to reach 90 where before it was no probs!! Now it maxs out at 85 and that’s it!! Something doesn’t seem right here so exhaust needs changed!!
I bought a NEW full stage 3 kit from ebay from a buyer who bought it but never put it on. I got it at a steal for £700! This came with the stage 3 head and 1:5 roller rockers and the proper twin box side exit RC40 exhaust and manifold and filter.
So off came the fletcher exhaust and on went the RC40
I aint drove the car since to be honest as she is a weekend summer dry day car.
My latest buy is a uprated clutch, lightened flywheel, 4 pin diff, gaskets, etc.
The guys doing the car will install all items including a SW05 cam, rebore the engine to 1380 and also replace anything in the gearbox that needs replaced. Currently needs new 1st & 2nd sincro.
Hoping to get about 90+ BHP and whole pile of torque!!!
When I send the car up mid January time, im going to get another RR session with the RC40 exhaust to see if it makes much difference. 2 extra BHP isn’t great to be fair from a kit that claims an extra 20% increase. Id be happy with 10% lol.
