is the piston connecting rod outer top oil hole supposed to point towards the camshaft?

Never thought about it, can't see any reason why it must, the cams are oiled by drain down from the followers. A bigger factor might be the centrifugal effects of the engine turning.

), should help you sort out the big end offsets if that's the issue. The conrods & their caps need to stay as matched pairs & the pistons should go back in the same bores, so if it's a reassembly there's only one way to do it.

it shows you the correct offset in the haynes manual, cant remeber if it is in the newer manual or the older 1s tho
