that is sweet is it yours?

No it isn't mine. It's Rob Hall's from Allspeed engineering, I've seen all the incarnations of that car rallying many times. He's retired from the sport these days.

I can remember reading a feature in either miniworld or mini mag about a roundnose with a kawasaki bike engine (I think!) with prop to a back diff. Gonna annoy me now as to where and when it was featured!

front mounted bike engine, rear wheel drive

The rear of a mini shell needs some serious bracing when you fit a rear engine.
Once you take out the boot floor heel board and seat panel, the shell gets REALLY weak. Most rear wheel drives have an almost spaceframe like set up to regain some strength

I don't think that something as radically modified as putting the engine in the back should still be called a Mini, because it has none of the characteristics for which a Mini was known. And, please note that all such conversions in the UK need an IVA test, and it will be very difficult to get a Mini through that.

There was a feature in the mini magazine (April 2011) where a guy made a front engined, rear wheel drive mini. It used a 2000cc Ford Corsair V4 engine. It looked absolutely awful as it had a blue glittery paint job on it and really high ride to it.

There is a pair of these and dont forget this was built in the early 80's when custom cars ruled. Not to everyones taste but still something else.

If you watch this video from 7:25 you will see these two going down York Raceway.

By the sounds of it the white one has a bike engine mounted in the rear

and the two black ones are running car engines in the back

And another one smoking it's tyres.

I saw that at MINI United back in 2009. It took me back to the days of jack-up kits, side pipes, furry dice, metal flake paint and fiberglass arches with plenty of filler to blend it all in.

If you don't think a 2.0 V4 is big enough you could always go the V8 route. This was at Normanby Hall in 2010.

Unlike most of the rainbow painted creations that could be found at the Custom shows back in the '70's and '80's.

Keeping it in a straight line could be fun with such a short wheelbase. Have a look on the z cars section of the forum and see the problems with how twitchy they can be
