I'm having a problem getting the upper arm out. I have removed the nuts from both ends and the lock plate.
Now am I right in thinking the pin needs to be pushed forward to get the arm out?
If so this is where i'm strugging because it will not budge.............
Any one had this problem?
By the way the shaft spins freely............ :ohno:

With my upper arm pin I removed the nut from the rear end of the pin and used a flat head screwdriver along with a hammer to pry the pin out by the lock plate, sounds a bit brutal but it didnt damage anything :) they are a bugger to get out with almost zero clearance in there..

Its not moving, I have removed the lockplate from the front but it seems there is one as part of the subframe.

Have you still got the hub attatched to the arm?
Has the thickwasher come out with the locking plate too?

Under the lock plate you removed is a large thrust washer. By the look of things, it may be rusted in place. Spray it with some rust penetrant and give it time to soak in. Reinstall the nut on the other end, leaving space between the nut and the frame. Then take your crow bar and carefully apply pressure between the nut and the foot well. It should dislodge the washer at the other end.

I've had this problem when i did mine. It was stuck solid. Nobody in my mini club believed me ti they came and looked at it. I developed a slow method of getting it out using a thick square piece of metal over the pin, put the nut back on the other end leaving just enough room to wedge in a ball joint splitter tool and whack it with a sledgehammer. Then slacken off the nut a little and repeat. Its brute force and slow progress but it works.

Hub has been split from the arm. Thick washer stuck fast....................

I've got it out  had to refit the lock plate and nut and with my realy big pry bar not the crow bar I managed to get the pin to move with the aid of a big hammer.
I'm not looking forward to doing the other side............................. >_<

I did mine with my lock plate still attached to the pin, undo the small nuts attaching the plate to the subframe but leave it on the pin so you can use it to pry the pin out =] This will allow the pin to slide out forwards with the lock plate still attached to the pin.

I was going to ask if you'd compressed the cone but it was already out by the looks of it..
