I have Curley miglia arches, open weave, but may get them painted though, as, to be honest, the carbon work is nowhere near as good as carbonweazels....we'll see though...

I think he may, haven't asked - I had the Curley arches some time ago before I started ordering from Nick (Carbonweezel).

i saw somewhere the boys at pro-motive have turboed one of their kits.
now that is something i would do, would be nice to see pics or any information.

i know that it is a tight fit, but how much bigger is a gsxr1000 or a busa motor, can it be 'massaged' in ???

Ive just read this whole project thread and 1st off all fair play to you.....going to watch this space. Im in the process of purchasing a Fibreglass shell as seen in recent MiniWorld Magazine.
Only when that shell enters my garage will I contact the Pro-mo gyus for a kit. Ive also got a contact within TTS who do supercharger conversions on a lot of engines...including R1's. They specified 200bhp @ wheels would be easily reached and quite reliable too.
Judging form the space it may be tight, but I have a thing for Clubmans so should have a little more roon (+ perhaps a front mounted intercooler)

not going to hog this thread.

How close to roadworthy is the beasty now??

...have made some progress putting some of the bits on. So far I've been able to fit the Austin Se7en badges to the carbon boot lid, and fit it and the rear carbon bumper to the car, both from Nick the Carbonweezel - also mocking up the fuel cell on the Curley Boot floor, and installing the tail lights.

Oh, forgot to mention - the parcel shelf is carbon too - did I mention I like carbon.

I also fitted the lights and turn signals to the carbon (there's that word again!) front end and mocked it in place along with the grille.

The wheels / tires were set into place to get an idea of how the car will look, as it's resting on furniture dollies at close to ride height right now. Next on the agenda is to put the thing up on jack stands so I can install the front subframe with engie, and the rear suspenson beam, arms, and brakes...

I also attached a little movie of the really spiffy Mk1 rear tail light LED conversions I picked up a while back from Minimania - nice to finally be able to see those work! The movie sequence shows the turn signals, then the running lights, and finally the brake lights - the brakelights are VERY BRIGHT, which will be nice when I'm fianlly driving around with such a tiny car on these American roads full of SUVs and full size pickup trucks - let alone tractor trailers (cringe).

would love to know what this is going to tip the scales @ when she hits the open road. have you a target in mind??

I managed to get my last one down to a shade under 580kg....even resorted to takin a dump before going up the strip @ the minishowdown.
that was with a 1380 under the (unfortuneately only) fibreglass front end. I cut the boot floor out bot didnt put anything in its place haha

Best investment I made was a redtop battery i found on eBay, weighed like 4 or 5kg and so small in size i kept it mounted behind the occassionally fitted passenger seat

Is this gonna b a trackday/show only car or you going to give that machine a introduction to some country lane fun in between

Keeping a keen eye on this project

I'm modestly hoping it will come in at under 545kg (1000lbs), but that +10kg of that or so will still do just fine...

It's going to be a street-able track day car - drive to events, drive home, with the occasional drive-in / show - I'm not much on "trailor queens", heck it's already got a scratch or so from assembling...

I'm using an Odyssey PC545 battery on the car (you can see it in the tail light vid) - super lightweight...and not nearly as expensive as a Varley

so with that 160bhp engine (roughly) @ 550kg (give or take)
good for 300bhp-per-tonne

B-E-A-Utiful

Are you going to play with the fuelling at all...pressures,etc...??
Also, what inlet are you considering?

I have a Dynojet USB Commander unit to play with the fueling and an adjustable regulator to play with pressures..

Inlet? Do you mean air filter? I'm using the std FI intake and trumpets matched to a K&N foam filter box element (you can see pictures of the filter earlier in the thread.

Should have a good power to weight ratio, yes... :(

I'v followed this Earth Scorching project since I joind TMF last year, just thought I'd say I take may hat off to you!
This looks great with the little touches like the carbon fibre bumpers etc.
How hard is it to source parts over there?

Minimania has a UK presence too....they shoudl sell them there, or you can buy direct from the States I'm sure - and with the exchange rate they'll cost you something close to a tenner!

Thanks for the compliments...parts are hard to source here, and expensive with the exchange rate and shipping / import duties. I end up aggregating things at someone who is willing to crate things for me and ship every 6 months or so....makes for a slow build...
