still prefer A-series

youll learn!

i have

told you you would too! LOL

i know i know, i love it but i hate it too.
i hate sitting at 4000rpm and going deaf on the motor way with no sound deadning
i hate 16 mpg
i hate haveing to put high octane fuel in then topping it up with sonoco fuel.
i hate trying to get it to start in the morning with a high compression ratio
i hate that it keeps eating engine mount bushes
people in my village hate it when i go out late at night
i hate the padel clutch

i love the noise between 4 and 8500 under power
i love the power band

the hates out weigh the loves here

Goging back to the topic....top work Monte Busa, it look fantastic! I've been following this for a while and really enjoyed seeing it come together.

Are those arches GP2 or 5's?

Luke.

looking good aric, wont be long until its on the road now then?

Hopefully not too much longer - I love mechanical stuff, but hate wiring - might be dopping you guys a line in a day or so with some questions on the bike harness...

get out and push! or, park in a strategic location - not too hard really I don't imagine...

No previous experience with Mini's (except for my half complated Z-Cars Monte Carlo) but have been tinkering / upgrading cars my whole life....

Cost....er, um, er....I don't want to know so I try not to think about it.

sweet car
what do you do about reverse then?
how much has this cost you so far then and have you had previous experience ?
i plan to do an r1 front engined mk1 mini in a couple of years.

Big news today - got the car started and took it for a quick spin around the block with my 6 year old son....vid to come in the next hour or so - and on my Birthday too! Many thanks to Phil for helping me get the wiring sorted via e-mail over the last few days too.

Cheers,

Aric

It was awesome - quite surreal actually - as this particular Mini, while in my care had never moved under it's own power - it came in ro-ro (roll on, roll off) from NZ so started when it left the Southern Hemisphere, and started at least twice while in the States (once to get it off the boat, once to get it on the delivery truck, but I could never get the old 850 lump to start after hours of trying...so out came the lump, and a year later in goes the R1 pro-Motive kit - so today was VERY fun...now the last little bit of wiring to finish / tidy up and off to the magazine shoots!

Thanks for the Birthday wishes - nice present I guess, huh?

Just watched the vid. Very cool. The car looks great. Now how about some 10,000RPM+ fly-bys?!

Other than fixing that stuck caliper, what's left to do at this point?

nice one aric, but get on that loud pedal! and stop using the clutch to change gear, you put alot more jolts and load through the drive train if you clutch when changing up.
