Just read it now, brilliant build, hows it coming on now? Everything running as Rover intended?

Yes runs fine! Not good in these wet icy conditions though! Every time there is anything to write about I put it on there. It's all road worthy and running well.

I would use it more but I take a few people to work and wouldn't be fair on them in it, so use my MG ZS. It get used at weekends. :D

doing same conversion myself. using a metro subframe and running gear, but i plan to redrill the disc flanges to take mini wheels. 13" probs if clears the metro brakes.

been wondering what to do about the front subframe stucking out abit myself, thinking a front splitter blended in to hide it.

Can that front bar be sectioned at all. Its a bit of a pain with that hanging out of the front. Does the engine mount to it at all??

you can shorten it, but i think you then need to make mods to the exhaust downpipe bend.

I'm sure there will be a way around that with some 1/4" thick flat bar and a bit of persuasive force from a hammer large.

I looked at altering the front cross member of the subframe, but I spent £800 on this kit. If I wanted one fabricating I could of done it from scratch. It would also invalidate any warranty from Watson's.

Personally I wouldn't use a Metro frame if I was to do this again. A modified Mini frame and custom driveshafts seems much better and probably cheaper too.

If you were to use Mini wheels on Metro flanges, although they would fit over the brakes it will make the car even wider and need wider arches. The Metro wheels have no dish, whereas most Mini ones are dished. I've seen it done, but don't like how it looks. The Metro one I have clear the brakes by less than 5mm. It's very tight. ;D

You could use MG F vented brakes with the Metro frame. It's a straight swap. BUT you must use Metro GTI MPi 7 spoke wheels or 14" wheels. to clear.
