This is something that has fascinated me ever since I got my mini. I have seen lots of spi coopers with the "lightning" leather interior and the front seats have some massive side bolsters to help keep you firmly in place. I swear I have seen some MPI cooper seats finished in cream cloth that have the same massive side bolsters.

Yet my 97 cooper MPI doesn't have these bucket seats, and neither can I find anything in the original sales brouchure that came with the car. Are these factory bucket seats a figment of my imagination or not?

They look something like the ones on this ebay link. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item232555a962

Althought I am not sure if these are mini seats, they look more like rover 200 coupe recaro seats.

I would be interested in tracking down a pair of these original bucket seats if such a thing does exist, I have an MG ZR that came with factory fit bucket seats and the comfort and support is fantastic.

Many thanks in advance, Nat.

These are SPi style seats, They are incredibly rare in the black leather cream stripe form and even rarer with the cooper Logo embossed in.

Guess What. I have the rarest of the bunch :P

Wow, they look the business. Did these ever come in cloth? And did they carry the same style seat over to the MPI cooper?
It just seems strange to loose such supportive seats on a "sporty" model

They did do these in cloth in fact they we're used from in all cars from 93-95 when the introduced the MPi.

There are plenty of styles including the equinox ones, mini 35, mayfair, sprite, and the SPi black lightning.

for the MPi they changed the back support to a less supportive shape but it was narrower so fit the car slightly better.

Here's a cloth set; You can get them recovered by lots of places in vinyl or leather, http://www.ebay.co.u...item4d07084f0c.

Originally this is what I planned to do but these popped up on eBay originally I thought they we're MPi not at that point noticing the difference between the seats, it was after later investigation that i realised quite how rare they are.

Leather Recaro buckets were an option on the John Cooper cars at a staggering £1500 per seat O_O , however being typical JCG, they were actually slightly too big for the car :D

Just spotted them on google, they're basically just slightly wider Ford RS Turbo recaros with the JC logo.
