We all know minis are good on fuel but what if we took it to the next level and gas converted?
Has anybody done this, if so how could it be done?
Thanks, webby

It can be done; of course. But you need to be qualified to install them and currently i don't think theres any LPG Kits made for a mini. Google some LPG specialists in your area and ask about it. However you'd probably have to get a right hand tank to make it look good and have some boot space left.

No chance, the subframe takes up most of it

I think you would be able to get a doughnut tank small enough to fit in the spare wheel well though

Highly flammable gas in the passenger department.

Thats a recipe for a toasty bottom ;D. I think the only way it could be done is to use a right hand tank cooper 'S' Style, though these are expensive and incredibly difficult to get hold of; but it seems a good idea any way. I know the benefits of LPG, but I can't really see the point on a mini unless your doing motorway miles?

Don't get me wrong it's great for big range rovers and stuff like that but the mini is small and economical anyway :D

LPG is a great idea on paper but where it has failed to take off is at the pump it's self. Out of 4 petrol stations in my area 1 has a single LPG pump that is away "out of order". This isn't jut a problem in my area, it seems that working pumps are few and far between all over the UK.

No you don't, you can fit one yourself.
You do have to have it inspected by a certified technician though.

Don't do it, it will kill the engine to death in 5 mins. IIRC LPG runs at highs temps and (obviously) would have to be in an injection mini.

Seriously, you want a high mpg car, don't get a mini XD

it could be done on a carb engine, IIRC Wheeler Dealers did it on a early Defender.

But I do agree you can't use MPG in terms of a Mini. Its only works on the basis SPG
