Hi,

Its been a long time since I have been active in the classic mini comunity and I am really looking forward to the restoration ahead of me.

I have in the past up untill 2004 has a lovely example of a Paul Smitih but sadly I let it go as I simply could not store it anywhere and felt it would be best to go else where to be loved rather than sitting out on the road / drive.

Many years on and several binis later I finally landed my hands on what I can only call a project. I have a very sad looking 1990 998 but I have plans of first sorting all the body work out and fitting a nice 1380cc engine to it over the next few years as I have other project on at the moment

1972/73 beetle, this project is moving along very quickly and the little abount of bodywork it needs will be started in the next couple of weeks and should all be finished around the end of January ready for paint. I am making sure that there is no evidence of any welding ever taking place on the car and removing all the old patches it has recieved over its life and will do the work correctly

While this is the worst photo ever, this is the mini I will be working on, at the moment it is quite rusty but I think I can have the body work done within a few months once the beetle is finished. Quite excited by it and I think I will be building the engine first and then the body second

The other project I have on at the moment which is in the paint booth today is the first ever roof chopped bimi and I hope that the whole bimi hating thing has gone and its more excepted but I am sure there are still a few anti bimi but, meh... here it is quite a few months ago but there has been a lot of work gone into the fella and I hope that one day all the effort will be worth it and its made a good little project but I am never chopping another car... Been a real saga because I wanted to make a carbon roof skin but finally it has all been made and the car will be ready to assemble in a few weeks. http://rkde.blogspot.co.uk/

Look forward to having a nose round the threads and hope that the shopping can start at the shows next year

Welcome! There's something a bit Evoque-esque about the roof on that Bini.

Very interesting!

If you need custom windows for the rear of the Bini give me a shout, we should be able to help. The fronts a bit more awkward unless you are fitting a frame for the window to attach to.

Some one had to chop one! Oddly I started it nearly 4 years ago with 1 day a week and have had a few problems along the way but alas it's getting there. A lot of people have said the same about the Landover...

The beetle is meeting the grinder and Mr welder next week, I did want to tig it but now I think I will just take the easy route and mig the panels back in.

The Bini as it was at the weekend, being painted this week then time for assembly
