Anyone know why I might have a water leak in the back under the seat cushion? There's bit of condensation but most of the water comes in when it rains. There's no water in the boot and nothing coming in from the windows, I just can't see how it gets there.

The back near the speakers is damp but mostly its wet near the backrests of the seats and it pools under the seat cushion. Any thought on what might be leaking? I've checked the rear window and roof and both seem fine. Could it be the wheel arches, and the water at the top is condensation??

if you stop driving fast, your passengers may not get so "nervous"

It's more than likely the window seals. get some kitchen roll (or similar) and tape it to the inside of the window around the seal, then pour some water onto the seals from the outside. If it leaks, it'll seep through and soak the paper, then you can find out where it's leaking exactly.

as pikey says it's prob the windows!
i was having the same problem and was told it was the seals on the windows!!

Check the boot seal. The water could be getting in through the back and running through the boot (especially if the car is parked nose down).

More than likely rear window seals though as has been said already

maybe you have a hole in the front of the rear wheel arch (the part that is covered with plastic next to the seat squab) ?

Ive got the same problem, I found it to be the rear window, in the corners... Shince I need to reseal the windows anyways, as a quick "Get me home without drowning bodge!" I sprayed "Spray-Mount" into the corners of the window and along the bottem part... No more leeks!

Althought, spray-mount does make a mess of the window if it goes everywhere

I found I have exactly the same problem. The back seat foam acts like a wick and makes your bum wet when you sit on it. In my case, I found there was water coming in through one of the side windows at the bottom. The window seals are fairly compressed so probably need replacing. Minispares do replacements at about £6 each so I'll be off to Hertfordshire in the morning. I hope it doesn't rain again tonight!

Thanks everyone. I'm going to tape some kitchen roll to different places to find the leak. Throwing buckets of water at the wheel arches and windows didn't show any leaks - it must just happen when I'm driving.

I think it's coming in at the very top of the windows into the middle of the car seat and sometimes the speakers, then it sloshes around everywhere! Still seems strange it doesn't soak the back seat but it collects underneath it instead. I think I'll tape around the wheel arches too.

Put talcum powder all around the rear windows. You can then see exactly where water is coming in and running down.

Ive got knackered rear arches, the boot wasn't getting wet at first (tis now) but the water was being sprayed up the inside of the arches and sorta working its way throught the rear scuttley thing then pisssing all over the back seat shelf, i took me seats out and now have a v.fetching brown towel there to help.

Have a poke around and sling your head under the arches to check it out.
