why use a bottle for the washers? use a bag instead...
Never considered a bag, I'll look into it
Its coming on now...
Thanks!
Small update, got a few things off the list.
First off, the new transmission dipstick doesn't fit, the shape is all wrong and is too long, it sticks right up inside the 'bay and looks odd. So I've cleaned up the original and it looks a lot better.
Stripped the power steering pulley back to bare metal and gave it a couple of coats of clearcoat to protect it until I can get it chromed.
Shortened the vacuum line to the gearbox as it didn't sit right
Throttle, kickdown & return spring brackets on
Also throttle cable on, but no pedal yet.
HT Leads on. I was worried that the leads wouldn't be long enough in the holders to reach the dizzy and be routed round the back of the valve covers as I didn't really want them on show
Couldn't resist popping the air filter on to see how it will look.
Also got the fan mounted to the new radiator core. I'll be mounting the trans cooler vertical instead of horizontal as I can use one of the fan mounts so saves having 8 mounts pushed through the core, potentially lowering any risk of leaks.
The radiator was in a satin finish when it was re-cored, I've gave it a couple of coats of clear to make it shine a bit, mainly to match the rest of the engine bay.

Love the fact it's still n the road and that you don't get all pedantic about tools on wings and polishing....
Keep it real.. And on the street....well done....inspiration....
Yeah, paintwork isn't really a concern, plus, the wings are a perfect shape for leaning across to work on the engine and make for handy tool storage!
Now that's cool!!!! I may just have to steal that idea!
Getting there. Won't be long now
Hopefully not, I had a night off from it last night, but tonight, I want to see oil pressure on the gauge!
It's just awesome. One day... One day...
Thanks

I'll say it again, washer bottle - jack daniels bottle.
get a nice chrome cage thing made up to hold it on the bulkhead and your laughing.
unless you really want to hide it away underneath those massive arches, to be honest either one will look awesome.
still love this car/truck/beast

I really like the JD bottle idea, I was thinking Jim Beam instead, what with it being a Kentucky bourbon and a Kentucky truck.
Tonights update.
Bottom radiator hose on, had to reuse the original as the new pipe didn't flex enough without kinking
Top hose is fine. May leave it as is, I think it looks right, silicone ones may look odd. I'll see how it goes
Fuel filter relocated to before the pump, that means I have a nice solid line from the pump outlet to the carb, peace of mind not having the fuel filter so close to the main alternator live.
Drive belts on
Zinc additive/cam break in oil & engine oil going in
I had forgot to add some ptfe tape to this plug, and forgot to nip it up, so after filling the cooling system, I had a small leak. Whipped the top rad hose off and held it up, then took it back out only for coolant to gush out, my mate had his thumb plugging the hole but still managed to empty around 3l of coolant onto the floor, oops!!! Anyway, ptfe on and it's nipped up, seems leak free too.
Quick shots of it almost together, just the spark plugs left.
Steering column & gauges back in, floor mount still needs attaching but that can wait as I need to do something with the carpet behind it first.
After I put the battery back in to check everything over, I had forgot I added the dual colour sidelights/indicators. Not massively keen on how modern the side lights look but it's more for how they work really. I'll have to change the flasher units for proper LED indicator relays as they mustn't be drawing enough current to flash the indicators.
Side lights
Indicator
Oh yeah, almost forgot. I have oil pressure now! Just a teaser for now. That's it just spinning over on the starter with no compression
Hopefully tomorrows video will be it firing for the first time!

Reading through the entire thread at work - I blame you for me not getting anything done today.
Used to live in the 'States for a bit - Boston, MA... this brings all it back!
Awesome stuff.

Well, things didn't go quite to plan, cured the water leak on the inlet, the plug needed a tiny but more of a nip, put 20l of fuel in, cranked it over, plenty of fuel getting to the carb, got a spark, the engine spat a foot high flame out of the carb so I know it's almost ready to fire, but I think I have the timing 180 degrees out, I think I've set #1 at TDC on the exhaust stroke and not the compression stroke.
Hoping that if I whip the dizzy out and turn it 180 degrees, it will fire as the leads are all in the right order. That's a job for tonight if I get finished work at a reasonable time!
