Mk 1 Switch Panel Into Mk 4 Hole !

hi all
will a mk1 old style switch panel fit into a mk 4 1977 hole ?
i fancy the older style look and put a fag lighter into the ignition hole....
any peeps know ?

I don't believe the hole changed size, just not used when the padded dash rail was added

Mine has been modified by the previous owner to fit what I believe is a MK1 switch panel. I may be wrong but the hole has been made smaller with a piece of fibreglass. I'll try and get a picture in the next few days so someone might be able to clarify.

oo thats good not got any padded rails in anyway , are the old temp and choke cables the same length as newer ones ? bet they are

The mk1 lower dash rail hole is much smaller than a mk3 onwards!

You will have to let a piece of metal into the hole that has the external pattern of a mk3 on dash rail hole, and the inner pattern of the mk1 dash rail hole, smooth the welds down and it should fit!
