Just to add to this.
I just replaced drivers side door step wasn’t exact profile at the bottom as original the one that goes from seat belt area to wing mirror and didn’t touch where needed to spot weld so needed tapping and bending slightly this was on a mini 30 year 89 and a heritage panel was used at £110 ish

ah thats because after over 10million pressings the moulds are worn and they do vary but BMH panels still outway magnum for fitting
