Hi there guys,

I have decided to remove my bonnet stripes and side pinstripes from my cooper, what is the best way of going about doing this? Do I need to warm the stripes with a hairdryer or what?

Thanks for your help :D

Warm them up with some heat and carefully peal them off, you'll probably need some polish or something like tea-cut to remove the last of any residue or to blend in the embedded dirt.

So, here's the plan:
  • Warm the top of the stripe with a hairdryer
  • Slowly peel off the stripe
  • Once removed, use some polishing compound to remove any residue/dirt
  • Use IPA to strip the wax from the bonnet, and apply a fresh coat of wax/sealent
What about the laurels though?

Leave the laurels on and IPA? I'd just use washing up liquid, thats all it does when you wash a car with washing up liquid its strong enough to take all the wax/sealant off (Y)

Dont want the laurels, how would I go about removing them?

Good idea about the washing up liquid though!

Oh then exactly the same process, little heat and peel away.

How comes you don't want them?

EDIT - what could've been an incredibly awkward spelling mistake.

Ive always been a minimalist, and I have had an idea! I have the lovely red John Cooper Garages 'Cooper' badges on the front and back, which contrast the green beautifully and also show people that it is a cooper, I prefer the simplicity of pure paint and just the badges to set it off, personally!

Extra lamps or no then?

Just standard two or none?

Thinking about it in my head that sounds epic.

use a plastic scraper on any bits you want to remove then use this...http://www.ct1ltd.com/multisolve.html to get any glue residue off, i've used it a few times now and it's fantastic stuff!!
