The chassis number will give a clue to how early in the MPi build your car was. Again John Parnell will be able to help you with this, but an exact date, unless you have something in writing from Rover will always be approximate.
We're getting close to working out estimated build dates within a few days with the CS500's and even most of the 2000 classics, but there will always been some element of doubt due to lack of records. Some owners have letters from Rover, but they did write in specifically asking for info like this back in the time Rover still had records!

That's the problem, records weren't kept (they moved over to computer systems instead of written records in the last 10 years or so) so any build date you find will always be approximate. Mine doesn't have much history (like the written records mentioned above) so all I have to go on is things like chassis no. etc. It's generally a case of checking all the date stamped, original parts on your car and finding the latest date.

About a dozen cars from the 2000 Mini Register were at Brooklands yesterday, despite the snow and freezing weather!
