It looks like the starter relay plug? the white/red trace comes from the ign switch and sends power to the relay when the key is turned to start, thick brown in is power in, thick brown/red power out and black earth.

Great thanks. I could only find the old style starter soleniod. I'm using an engine start button and  pre engaged starter so this is what I need.

Sorted now. Thanks again

flicking through your thread again and just wanted to ask with these p-clips are the bolts captive, or loose and removable through the floorpan and therefore removable when the clip eventually corrodes?

No problem.

Rivnuts protrude a long way, I needed to keep a low profile on the floor pan to make sure the carpet sits flat. I used stainless domed head cap bolts and nylock nuts

The P clips are stainless too so rust won't be a problem

I'm sorting lots of minor problems out at the moment. This is the ventilation pipe that runs under the NS wing

1687_zps7wzxmzhy.jpg

When I fitted the slotted inner wing, I didn't drill any holes to support the pipe. Holes in shells are bad news since it's where rust starts. The pipe however does need fastening so this is my solution.

Cable tie base mounts are great but the self adhesive tape is useless. I soaked them in white spirit to get rid of the sticky stuff

1688_zps2ckobq79.jpg

Then used Sikaflex to bond them on

These modern PU adhesives are great for stuff like this

thanks for the reply I knew I had seen it somewhere but think I got it confused with the captive subbie mounts I saw someone replace. Not sure what I am going to do when you finish building your mini, between this and project Paddy I have all the reading and info I need.

This is the side of the centre console. Decided to cover it in car / van lining material.

1693_zpsakqcotod.jpg

It's stretchy and needed to be. I had to wrap it around a fair way to cover

1694_zpsarnsgnqx.jpg

Didn't think I would manage to fold it over the curves but by slowly stretching it, I did it. I used Gorilla glue applied to the plastic very thin

1695_zpsokzqe2gc.jpg

You can see the problem in these pics. Had to fold it over quite a way

1696_zpsagec3cgp.jpg

I used loom wrap on the engine bay cables. Hope I didn't forget anything!

1691_zpsgnwt3snw.jpg

Waiting for some clips to finish it

MINISPORT AGAIN!

I mentioned problems with their parts not fitting and poor customer service but this is now beyond the joke. The car is stored in a dry heated garage with no windows and no UV exposure.

It's also been stored on it's wheels.

This is not poor manufacturing tolerances it massively inferior materials.

1699_zpsbkljhiqk.jpg

This is appalling. I'm going to have to strip the suspension and replace everything.

It would have failed the MOT!

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!!!!

The same old ongoing issue with mini suppliers and rubbish quality of rubber components, and none of them are going to do anything about it anytime soon.

I've recently been replacing all the knuckle joints, brake hoses, cv boots, rack boots etc. for Delphi branded items. Most of witch aren't any more expensive than the cheap tat. Delphi have a handy online parts catalogue for finding part numbers. And I've already replaced all the suspension bushes, bumps stops and rubber mountings for polly years ago.

I don't think the rubber bits on anything from Minispares are any better, they don't seem interested in rectifying the issue of poor rubber quality on the parts they supply. Hugely annoying to say the least.

Had similar issues with minispares to be honest... as well as a timing chain tensioner brittle fracturing into 3 pieces within first 50~ miles of replacement!

Good work on the mini, always enjoy the updates

Sam

I feel your pain with this
Had to do the same on my lads car same as you it was a fresh build and had not been on the road
All the rubber components perished and the same don’t give a dam attitude from certain suppliers
With my build I’m actually reusing some of the original rubber components if they are serviceable
Good luck with the rest of your build

Mark
