Thanks Ben, it's just more of the same really - get rid of the rust and paint.
Whilst I'm painting parts for the 200SX, I'm taking the opportunity to sort one or two bits out on the Mini. The fuel tank for example has a couple of slight dents in it. Rather than use use filler which tends to shrink behind paint causing problems later down the line (called mapping) I'm filling the dents with 2K paint. The drawback with this is it takes some time for the paint to fully cure. Time I have though so I lashed a load of paint on... big run included
Hung it up in the garage and by the time it's flatted back and resprayed, it should be OK
I'm doing the same with the battery box I made
Have to say, the Mini is a pleasure to work on now as everything is clean and rust free.

Pete,
What did you use to clean the gearbox casing? Did you paint it or is that bare, polished alloy? Great work as always!

Hi Max,
Might not be aggressive enough for powder coatings. They do two types, red is coarse and blue is fine

I have a coarse wire brush coming, will give it a try on some powder coat
Fitted the rear glass
I modded the shell to get these fixed rear 1/4 windows to fit properly

Looks great, what the difference in the shell for the 1/4 windows? What adhesive did you use to bond your subframe/floor panels on? I need some for strengthening my bonnet but not sure what to use.

It's not the shell that's different, it's the glass. Fixed glass is not available tinted so I had to use the opening style glass as I wanted tints. I had to close the aperture slightly to get them to fit properly.
The best stuff for metal bonding is an epoxy adhesive
