Pete,

It's great to see her going back together now!

Can you let us know which options of the protech you end up going for? As I want to place my order soon and I'm delaying it as I have no idea what to get! :-/

Dido..glued with your progress

I don't know if its of any help, Pete (and Mini Waco), i went to visit racingbob this afternoon and he has the lowered alloy version of the Protech shocks on his race mini and it sits almost exactly how i want my MPi to once complete. This is what I will be ordering this week :)

Do those blasted parts have primer or something on them? I actually think it looks like a lovely colour.

I have a stock bulb in one side.  Will fit one and see what the difference is :D

No, they were just blasted at that point. I'm going to paint them with epoxy black paint

With the windscreen rubber in place, I bolted the dash top rail in

1436_zps3bjxhzlg.jpg

I made these brackets to bolt the dashboard in when the shell was being built. Glad I did now as these late model dashboards don't have the best fasteners

1437_zps7bn35rlb.jpg

Trial fitted. I need to have a think about it but full gloss black might be a bit much

1438_zpskhr15ccj.jpg

I'm going for proper old skool gauges

1441_zpsmslrlnta.jpg

I need to get some decals for the main gauges. I'm not keen on this mount either, it just looks too big and heavy

Bought some ply to try something a little bit more delicate

Crackle black or satin black for the dash maybe?

I think body colour for the dash would be really nice. Paul Smith LE minis had this and I always thought it looked great.

have you heard of hydographics?

I would suggest having a custom graphic made, perhaps a tartan pattern but very opaque, you would have to look closely to see the weave etc. light grey tartan weaves on a matt black surface done via hydrographics.

could be subtle but striking.

Hmmm, that also sounds good

Nope, but had a look. WOW hydographics looks interesting.

Now I'm confused :D

On a more mundane front, I have sprayed the brake and engine bracket in 2K epoxy. As far as I know, this is the hardest / most durable paint there is

Not done much recently, been busy working on the Nissan. Since the Mini is garaged, the plan is to finish the car over winter whilst the weather is bad. Cleaned the gearbox casing up though

Mucho progress though I have my work cut out with 2 full on rebuilds :ohno:

Back end is stripped to the shell, quite a bit done underneath

0116_zps1xm1gn2a.jpg

Needs some re fabrication at the back of the sills / arch areas

0147_zpspmm2y2ih.jpg

Loads of suspension parts painted though

Linky to the build is the last link in my sig ;D
