Whilst the weather is bad, I'm trying to get through a snagging list as long as your arm. These things seem to swallow vast amounts of time and this is one of them.

These are the rear door cards I bought

1182_zpsa9bf61d9.jpg

Staples are not the best way to fasten a covering on so I took it off

1183_zpsec8ee97d.jpg

At this stage I also fitted some new wheel arch covers, mucho impressed with these

1185_zps2b26412d.jpg

Glued on with spray adhesive

1192_zps6ad3662e.jpg

Companion bin plastic liners have lugs on them

1184_zps90cf9d9f.jpg

Which fit into slots on the rear hardboard cards - these are the original's

1186_zps3621e7a3.jpg

Decided to go for a better fastening option

Marked out where the bin liner goes with masking tape. It's often easier to use tape than a pencil ;D Then made this wood support

1187_zps5a3e0cd6.jpg

Re fitted the vinyl covering using spray adhesive. The rear cards are convex when fitted, this should prevent the covering looking baggy

1190_zps5e34f37a.jpg

Then sprayed adhesive on the back to prevent the vinyl from peeling back

1191_zps0e9028a8.jpg

Cut the lugs off the bin liners, the wood will now support the liner

1188_zpsd8b7409a.jpg

Hopefully the finished job will be posted this weekend

Pete

Pete, how vast is your creative mindset?  Body work, electrics, upholstery... simply a hard act to follow.  Brilliant!

Thanks, however rather than getting up to mischief, I was the kid with the science and chemistry kits :geek:

Sealed the hardboard to stop it getting damp in, than taped around the edges of the vinyl

Funny you should mention electrics Mini Waco, the plan was to keep everything very simple like a MK3. Not many fuses (IIRC they had 3) no relays and that was that!

Yer right, "av a load of this lot" I really didn't want to have to install

Relays

1196_zps08e7ed07.jpg

Not 4........

1197_zpsf43f584d.jpg

But 8. Not too pleased about this lot really. Savage switches won't take the current so it goes like this

1 Heated rear screen

2 Sidelights

3 Headlights

4 Headlight inhibit - this switches the dipped lights off when the beam is switched on

5 Hazards - Stock switch is a 3 pole, Savage switch is only 2

6 Hazards (2) Needs this to enable the hazards to work with the key out. Otherwise the indicators will work without the key. The flasher unit would also drain a small amount of current

7 Air horns :P

8 Spare

There's also 2 in the bay for the spotlights.

Then there's the switch illumination. Bit bright when on and no dim illumination when the side lights are on.

The solution is this lot :ohno:

1199_zps2e649a55.jpg

Resistors and diodes.

Any pictures of the savage switches Pete. Love the attention to detail. It would never have occured to me to seal the back of the boards.

Still working on the loom and also more importantly the driving position.

Don't know if this is worth posting up but it may be of use to someone... Since I'm quite tall, the original plan was to extend the steering inner column but aligning the extension would have been a hassle. I found an easier way -

This is a Moto-Lita extension tube

1201_zpsff444fbc.jpg

It adds an inch. This is the boss that fits the the wheel, note the marking "top" which is important

1202_zps0a41e6b4.jpg

The reason for this is are the rawl pins that fit into the boss.

1203_zps09234d27.jpg

Which cancel the indicators like this

1204_zps16b87ec5.jpg

Looks like this now

1205_zps004561e1.jpg

1206_zpsc2a81514.jpg

The downside to extending is it puts more leverage on the column

1207_zps30bd3d66.jpg

The current plan is to beef up the outer column

Bit more work on the wiring done. These are diodes and resistors to enable the savage switches to be illuminated with the side lights, and brighter when switched on

1210_zps72ecc83a.jpg

To prevent a short circuit, one side is insulated first with shrink wrap

1211_zpsb0682216.jpg

Then the other

1212_zps360e2953.jpg

All the relays are wired now, to the left of them is the power supply for the sub. I had to make a bracket to support that

1213_zps6fc9c285.jpg

Fitted some sound insulation behind the bulkhead - still work in progress

1214_zpseb084515.jpg

Testing the radio which seems to be working OK

Mika is a bit concerned with the standard of welding that I have done. I know the theory but putting it into practice is a different story....

I would welcome your comments as welding is something I have little experience in

I am looking for some help please

Thanks
