3 Days worth!! Jeeze, mind you....after looking through your Nissan threads I know you have the patients to do this little task Peter
It would have been half the job if I'd masked up the doors and windows before spraying outside of the shell. There was a lot of overspray
So is the plan now defiantly to spray it yourself Pete?
I'm going to give it a go Ben. I've never sprayed a full shell in metallic before but to be honest my main concern is bits between the basecoat and clear. A big cleanup is probably a good idea and will see how it goes when I do the inside
Looks like a fantastic job Pete , 3 days of rubbing the inside down....you trying to put me off finishing mine lol
Cheers james
It's a bit fiddly inside James so it takes a bit of time. Having spent so many hours getting the shell to this stage, I don't want to compromise on the final finish.
Will be gutted if I don't get the final coats right though

You will be buying tak rags in bulk then i guess?

Tack rags are great Ben but the main challenge will be creating a dust free garage. After 12 months of welding, grinding and lashing paint on it's a bit of a mess. The plan is to polythene line it and I'm hoping that will do the trick.

sounds good!
When i painted under a marquee, i had a hose wet the driveway with a hose pipe and then left the hose running slowly while working. It kept the ground wet without creating puddles which in turn kept the dust and fumes down to a minimum.
Goodluck, can't wait to see the results

The paint finish underneath your rear seat, has more shine than the outside of my whole mini when I come to spray it next week

Hi Pete,
Amazing project/thread, its been a pleasure to read.
You've asked yourself a question that I've pondered for a while now: Is a new shell really rust free? and I think you proven that the answer is no.
I shall continue to read and look forward to seeing the build as it progresses.
Top job mate.

Hi Guys, thanks but it looks better in the pics than in the flesh. It was a bit hard to see and has gone on a bit dry in places. To spray inside the boot I put the paint on slower
and used a fan to get rid of the overspray, this made it a lot easier
4KW of light to cure it
Colour is Tahiti Blue by the way
Pete
