Thanks, with the NS door fit more or less sorted, decided to finish off the NS rear 1/4. First job was to seam seal where it meets the B pillar.
Masked up
Seam sealed
Might be worth a mention, seam sealer is for bridging seams, body filler is for filling - Might sound basic but body filler is too brittle to bridge seams and will eventually crack
Talking of seam sealer, this is where the scuttle meets the closing panel. This will be seam sealed.
The front wing runs along the curve on the scuttle but it's not welded, this gap will be left open and not sealed.
When I spot welded the rear 1/4 on, the heat ran up the panel and bucked it. It's taking some time to get it right
NS looks like this now

I'm doing my best Ben but it's painstakingly slow. Spot welding introduces less heat than plug welding but having looked at a brand new Heritage shell, it was pretty much the same. I'm also expecting a lot of work when the roof skin is fitted.
With the rear 1/4 sorted, I sprayed some 2K over the repaired area
Same with the door step and floor
No idea what's going on here, this is where the scuttle meets the flitch / A post. I can see inside of the shell (O/S shown)
On the NS, I have welded it up
Also rented this gas bottle on a 12 months contract from BOC - cost me £100 inc. gas and regulator

The subframes are terrible so I’m going to remanufacture them. I don't think these are a Cobra product though.
With the subframes sorted, decided to buy some better quality runners that have a locking mechanism on both sides.
Sorting the door fit / A panels at the moment which is taking some time to get right

Thanks for the heads up on the door gaps mini 4o, I will give them a final alignment when the front end is on.
Hi Ben, I’ve got loads done but not sure what engine to fit now. The MPI engine and associated wiring won’t be going back in though. I’m torn between a 1275 long stroke “thudder” and a 998 screamer - carb(s) and dizzy FTW
Either way, I was hoping to fit the front mounted rad from the MPI but clearance for the alternator looks like it’s a problem. It seems my only option is to cut the NS inner wing off and fit one with slats for a side mounted radiator. It’s all kinda getting a bit complicated now
Floor should be finished this week as it's all seam sealed, this is where the outer sill meets the inner sill, also the jacking point
I also seam sealed the folds in the outer sills

There is a member on here that PM'd me a few days ago about a 998 that he has stripped out ready to build. It has had all of the machine work done and comes with a head and gearbox too, also new pistons and a few bits more i believe. Might be a good base for a build for yours.
I can send him your way if you like?
Cheers

It's easy if you mask up first I put quite a bit around the scuttle closing panel as it’s an area notorious for rust
Sprayed the sills up (Note the foam on the dolly to spread the load across the floor)
Then came crunch time, I bought a part NS inner wing with fan slots for the side mount radiator.
No turning back now, the plan is to build a mini using the best of the bits from over the years. The MPI shell has quite a bit off stiffening so it's a good starting point. At least I can get the front end on now. One last decision is what carb(s) to use. I’m liking the idea of a 40 Weber but this will screw my plans with the radio in the middle of the dashboard
