Bit more done

Plug welded the fuel tank bracket to the new boot floor. Later models also have an earth point on the NS of the boot floor so I welded a nut underneath to accommodate this.

Stiffener spot welded to OS inner sill

Zinc primer forced into seam

Also forced it into the seatbelt mounting point

I've bought these quick release bonnet hinges

0443_zpsa4e1dc81.jpg

Dunno how quick they will be as it's a bit fiddly messing around under the scuttle. If anyone has any experience of these I would welcome any feedback

Thanks for looking

Thanks toplessmini, I will fit em

Bought this 12 X 4.5 spare wheel from Minisport today. I don't like the idea of it bouncing around so the plan is to secure it to the boot floor with the bolt in the pic

0444_zps3c51d4b2.jpg

Does anyone know what tire size should be fitted?

I've got the OS inner sill / heelboard / flitch cut out of the shell at the mo. Dunno if it's worth posting pics up as it's only the same as what I did on the NS. Don't want to bore you with more of the same.

Pete

Thanks very much. Knowing the tyre width enabled me to make this bracket to secure the spare.

Some more pics

Fitting the heelboard and the inner sill at the same time is the best way to make sure everything lines up properly

Subby fitted for alignment

Heelboard was cut in half so I checked for straightness before tack welding

Decided to get rid of the stock battery cable clamp as it's one huge metal seam down the floorpan. With the holes welded up and rust removed, it shouldn't rot. Cable will be run inside the car.

Sorry to post this in your thread Prtrol but you're the man to ask on this!  seeing as you,ve recently done both sides now

I can delete these from you thread if its a pain but might be of some help in the furturee to someone with the same issues as no doubt this thread should be pinned for shear detail

Thankyou in advance for any advice

Cliff

Hi Cliff,

That's what forums are for - sharing info so please leave the pics up. Will weld my rear arch closing panels in when I have fitted the new boot floor.

What you have done looks spot on. All that needs to be done is to weld the "tongue" on the inner sill stiffener to the closing panel. A pic is worth a thousand words...

0459_zpsf3ffa306.jpg

Not exactly a mega strength design but that's how they were built.

Split the seam around the boot lid aperture today

Rust all the way around it
