Hopefully someone can help me with this one.
My dad has recently ordered me some Crystal Headlights with Angel Eyes from MiniSport.
However I have just realised at the bottom of the description "not road legal - show use only)
What part is not road legal? Is it the fact you can change the Angel Eye to red, green or blue, or is the main headlight illegal too?
They are on other sites, and none of them say they are not road legal etc.
And I'm pretty sure the MiniSport description never used to say it.
Now I'm wondering wether I should install these on my pride and joy or not!

Any help please?!?
Thanks
Lee

Red, green and blue filters are not road legal. Only white or yellow light can come from the sidelights.

If they are not E marked then they have the wrong beam pattern and are technically not road legal. However the beam pattern isn't tested during an MOT so you shouldn't have any problems.

I have these lights fitted and I've not had any issues. They're good headlights but there are better out there. The angel ring looks great with the right sidelight bulbs.

My understanding was that they only check the angle of the light, not the actual shape of the beam.

Last time I had a MOT they didn't examine the headlights for a E mark. They just looked at where the light shone.

Thanks very much. Thought it would have just been the coloured filters.
What bulbs are you using for the sidelights then. Any particular type?

the beam patters IS checked at an MOT. I have just fitted these ( today ) and the improvement is massive. They are for "show use only " as they are not E marked. They say that to cover their back and sell the items cheaply. With these units the beam pattern is spot on, alot like a modern pattern. I went for the natural angel eye. This is the sidelight and the wiring couldnt simpler. It took me about 45 mins to fit the pair.

I have a set in my car at the moment, they're nice enough but the angle eye in my opinion is tacky which is why these are being removed for either crystal ones or P7000.

Unless you buy genuine p700's they won't be e marked either.

They're nigh-on impossible to find for a reasonable price, so chances are I will end up with the Crystal ones, as long as they are not the angle eye ones.

Angle Eyes or Corona Rings belong on BMW's and DRLs Belong on audi's. No where else :P

I'm using some super bright white LEDs, it looks like the photo above.

actually DRLs belong on any car produced now, they have been proven to reduce accidents and thus are standard equipment and required I think

Although i've noticed a trend of wannabe Audi drivers that either can't afford one or a newer car with them fitted, who instead seam to drive with there foglamps on permanently.

Many modern cars have DRL's that share the housing with the fog lights, Bini Countrymans for example

I wasn't talking about DRL's that look like fog lamps, I ment your typical 5-10 year old rot box with normal fogs driven with them on permanently.
Last time I checked it was illegal to drive with them on when visibility is above a certain level.
