Bloody hell there really are some total f*ckwits on this forum nowadays. Steve, congratulations on getting it out. You're lucky you don't have any rust to deal with, it will take some very skilled panel beating to get straight, but it looks possible. In my opinion it would definitely be best to restore it sympathetically, just paint the areas needed, and in cellulose so it doesn't look too shiny and new.. Please don't turn it into a convertible, or modify it from what it would have looked like had it made it off the 'line, it's your car but it would ruin it if it were to be modified. Good luck, and make sure you start a project thread when you get cracking!

What he said.

As I see it the option was leave it in a tunnel to rust or rescue it. Hats off to you Sir and all the best.

It was fantastic to finally see it in the flesh after seeing it on 28 Days Later years ago. I said to my brother of all the Minis there, I bet the tunnel GT had the most pictures taken.

I wasn't at Bingley, but I heard about this.

I'm not sure how I feel about it!

It was such an epic story when it was discovered down there, but that story can't last forever - it will only have ever been filled in with conrete, never to be seen again. So, in a way, I'm glad you saved it for the world to see.

What I'm uneasy about is the restoration of it!

Please keep it factory spec, please keep the history with it!

There are loads of people that know about this car & care about it and what it means ... please respect it.

I wish you luck! :D

Was this once a finished working car if its got 11 miles on the clock? m sure i read that it was used by bl to get around the factory complex area until it had a shipping container dropped on it. If it is just an unfinished car that fell off the production line it seems a strange order to assemble it in what with seats in but no other interior. even if its been stripped for parts i would have thought the seats would have been taken out just to make it easier! good luck wih the resto though, saw it at bingly today certainly got a few hours work ahead!

Good on ya!

It was lovely to see the mini at Bingley, you must have been so proud it was in pride of place. Have been following this and love that I got to see it in person, thank you!

Tanya was your 1275GT on show at Bingley. I thought I recognised it?
