ps, if you replace any panels on this car, i would love to get a small bit of cut off panel metal from this old shell,
so i can frame the metal with a pic of the car
and then i'll be able to say i have a small bit of the last mini to leave the factory grounds

Nows that's a thought - framed with a good print of it sat in the tunnel and a little bit of a description of what it is and where from. Then raffle them off with proceeds to your favourite charity. I can see that making a fair amount of cash.

we just pulled it into shape and give it a bit of dignity

At first I didn't agree to moving it, now after reading that it was just going to be completely scrapped by the developers (if this is true, who knows) then I'm leaning toward it being ok to take it out of the way.

I don't agree with restoring it really, it's straight enough now, it would be awesome on the road as it is, as it keeps it's story a lot better than putting loads of new steel there.

This golf has had a very unlucky life, I remember it being for sale on eBay and the description said it had been shunted, had a garage roof fall on it, crashed into a tree etc.
Every little bit of this car has a story of its history, I think a huge majority of people have fallen victim to a disposable lifestyle, where even our own heritage is being thrown away.

I hope this helps give another perspective of what should happen to the car, and I hope it can retain at least some of its heritage other than photographic evidence of what it once was

This springs to mind

"We can rebuild him"

Actually, me being Asian and also how Minis are usually bodged, maybe this is more appropriate..

Great work mate, I applaud your passion and perseverance!

I have just read this whole thread over one day, I was very annoyed at all the hating going on at the start, and it was interesting to see the reversals.

I love the history and the stories of how and why it was there and am keenly awaiting any more details and the continuing story that is the rebuild.

Just to add my two cents wprth I like the idea of restoring it with bumps intact.

Awesome work!

Yesterday I was privileged to meet Steve. He is a lovely guy with an enthusiasm for all things related to the history of th'Austin. He is also a Mini enthusiast. He worked at Longbridge as did his family. I can think of no better person to be the guardian of the last Mini out of Longbridge.
In fact it was a humbling experience. I too worked at Longbridge for most of my life, it is in our blood, part or our DNA and guys like Steve are keeping the memories and making the heritage available for anyone who is interested. I applaud what he has done.
Remember it is his car now, he will do right by it, let's enjoy it.
Thank you very much for yesterday Steve. Happy New Year.
